Guru Pradosh Vrat 2026: Pradosh fast has special significance in Sanatan Dharma. This fast is observed on the Trayodashi date of Krishna and Shukla Paksha of every month. The glory of this fast dedicated to Mahadev has been described in detail in Shiva Purana. Today is the first Pradosh fast of Adhikamas. Since it is Thursday, this is Guru Pradosh Vrat. Pradosh Kaal has special significance in Pradosh Vrat, because on this day Lord Shiva is worshiped with rituals during Pradosh Kaal only.
There is a religious belief that by worshiping as per the rituals on the day of Guru Pradosh Vrat, one receives special blessings of Mahadev, which makes life happy. By worshiping on this day, one also gets freedom from Guru Dosh present in the horoscope. Due to the virtuous effects of Pradosh Vrat one attains salvation after death. Today, there will be time of 02 hours 03 minutes in the evening for the worship of Guru Pradosh Vrat. At this time, worship Lord Shiva with rituals.
Puja time of Guru Pradosh Vrat (Guru Pradosh Vrat 2026 Puja Subh Muhurat)
The time of worship is considered most important to get the blessings of Lord Shiva. According to Drik Panchang, today the time of Pradosh Kaal is starting at 07:12 pm. This time of Pradosh Kaal will last till 09:15 in the night. This is the auspicious time to worship Lord Shiva on Guru Pradosh fast. Today, Shiva devotees can worship their deity for 02 hours 03 minutes in the evening.
Guru Pradosh Vrat Puja Method (Guru Pradosh Vrat Puja Vidhi)
- On the day of Guru Pradosh fast, wake up early in the morning and after taking bath, wear yellow or white clothes.
- After this, worship Lord Shiva duly in the evening during Pradosh period.
- Offer Ganga water, milk, curd, honey and Belpatra on Shivalinga.
- After this, light incense sticks and chant the mantra Om Namah Shivay.
- Recite Pradosh Vrat Katha.
- At the end of the puja, perform aarti and pray to God for happiness and prosperity.
Guru Pradosh fast of Adhikamas is special
Adhikamaas comes every third year. This month has been dedicated to Lord Vishnu. One name of Lord Vishnu is Purushottam, hence it is also called Purushottam month. There is a religious belief that the benefits of worship, chanting, penance, charity etc. done in this month are multiplied. In such a situation, Pradosh fast of this month is also considered very special. This fast brings success in career, happiness of children and freedom from financial crisis.
