Gursewak Singh’s Selection for the Junior Asia Cup
Gursewak Singh, a forward from Roundglass Hockey Academy, has been chosen for the Indian Junior Men’s team participating in the Asian Hockey Federation’s Junior Asia Cup 2026. This prestigious event is set to take place in Moqi, China, from August 30 to September 13. Hockey India has announced the selection of 18 players, with defender Anmol Ekka appointed as captain.
This selection signifies a significant milestone in Gursewak’s journey within the Indian junior national framework, as highlighted in a press release from Roundglass Hockey Academy.
Path to the Junior National Team
Gursewak first gained attention in the national junior arena in 2024 when he was included in Hockey India’s 40-member core probable group for the Junior Men’s National Coaching Camp in June 2024. This followed India’s European tour in May, where the junior team played five matches against teams from Belgium, Germany, and the Dutch club Bredase Hockey Vereniging Push.
His domestic performance has been impressive, making him a standout player for Roundglass Hockey Academy. Gursewak has also led his academy teams to success in national competitions, notably scoring four goals in the semi-finals of the 1st Hockey India Junior and Sub Junior Men Academy Championship 2023.
International Exposure and Future Prospects
In July 2026, Gursewak received another chance to represent the Indian Junior Men’s team during their tour of Belgium. This tour, which took place from July 5 to 18, included matches against Austria, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands, further enhancing his international experience.
His selection for the Junior Asia Cup follows a consistent rise through the ranks of Roundglass Hockey Academy and the Indian junior national team. The upcoming tournament will feature top junior hockey teams from Asia, and India aims to make a significant impact in Moqi. For Gursewak, this competition represents another valuable opportunity to gain continental experience and advance his development on the international stage.
