How to Grow Almond Plant at Home: If you are fond of gardening, then growing an almond plant at home can be a fun experience. Properly germinated almond can be easily planted in a pot. However, keep in mind that a home-grown plant may take several years to bear fruit and a plant grown from seed may not necessarily be identical to the parent tree. Still, it’s a great gardening project. Let us know the complete method of preparing a sapling from an almond.
First soak the almonds thoroughly
First of all, take raw (unroasted and without salt) almonds. Soak it in a bowl of clean water for 12 to 24 hours. This softens the seeds inside the almond and makes it easier for the germination process to begin. The water should completely cover the almonds while soaking.
Peel off carefully after soaking
When the almonds are thoroughly soaked, slowly remove its brown peel. After removing the peel, the white seed inside will be visible. Avoid pressing or breaking the seeds during this period, as even minor damage can affect germination.

Maintain moisture by wrapping in tissue paper
Now lightly wet a clean tissue paper or paper towel. Wrap the almond seeds in it and spray a little water on top so that the tissue remains moist, but not filled with water. Too much moisture increases the risk of mold.
Keep in an airtight container for 2-3 days
Store tissue-wrapped almonds in an airtight plastic container or zip-lock bag. Keep it in a place where there is no direct sunlight and the temperature is normal (about 20-25°C). Open the box and see after 4-5 days. If the tissue starts to dry, spray lightly with water. In a few days, small white roots (sprouts) will start emerging from the almonds.

Plant it in a pot once it sprouts.
When the root becomes about 1-2 cm long, plant it in a 10-12 inch pot in well-drained soil. To prepare the soil, mix 50% garden soil, 30% compost and 20% sand or coco peat. Plant the seeds about 1-2 inches deep with the root part facing down and add light soil on top.
How to take care of a plant
Keep the pot in a place where it gets sunlight for 5-6 hours every day. Keep the soil slightly moist, but do not allow water to stagnate in it. As the plant grows, shift it to a larger pot if needed. Adding organic fertilizer or vermicompost once a month improves the growth of the plant.
