The government seems to be in a strict mood on the deepfake issue. A review meeting has been held between the government and social media platforms to deal with the deepfake issue. In this meeting, the government has made it clear that it will adopt a policy of zero tolerance in the issue of loss caused to users due to deepfakes. Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajiv Chandrashekhar said in a statement that the government will issue an advisory to social media intermediaries to ensure 100 percent compliance with the rules in the deepfake case.

Deepfake is a type of fake photo, video or audio that is created using Artificial Intelligence (AI). In deepfake, a person’s face is combined with the body or voice of another person. It may look so real that it may be difficult to distinguish it from the original.

Deepfakes are used for these things-

What to do to avoid deepfakes?

You can take these steps to avoid deepfakes-

Check the source of the video or audio: If you see someone you know in a video or audio, make sure you check the source of the video or audio. If you doubt the source, do not trust the video or audio.

Pay attention to video or audio quality: Often some things are not clear in deepfake video or audio. If you see something in a video or audio that seems strange to you, chances are it is a deepfake.
