This recruitment will be started as soon as the process of ongoing Panchayat and urban body elections in Himachal is completed.
The Sukhu government had almost completed preparations to start the recruitment process of police constables and home guard personnel, but due to the implementation of the electoral code of conduct, the State Election Commission refused to approve it at the moment. Now, as soon as the Panchayat elections are over, the recruitment process for 1500 posts of police constables and home guard personnel is likely to be started.
Election Commission has stopped the recruitment process for the time being
Let us tell you that the Sukhu government of Himachal had sent the file of recruitment of 700 police constables and 800 home guard personnel to the Election Commission and sought permission to start the recruitment. But the State Election Commission has returned this file of the Sukhu government citing the model code of conduct imposed till May 31 due to the elections of Panchayati Raj institutions and urban bodies in the state. The Commission clearly says that during the election process, the government cannot take any major decision or announcement, which is likely to affect the election environment. On this basis, police and home guard recruitment has also been stopped for the time being.
Youth’s eyes fixed on the end of elections
After the recruitment process has been postponed, now thousands of youth of the state have their eyes fixed on the Panchayat elections. Candidates who have been preparing for police recruitment for a long time are now waiting for the elections to end. Many youth have been busy preparing for the physical examination and written test for months. They are a little disappointed due to the ban on recruitment, but it is hoped that the process will pick up pace again from the month of June.
The government has already given approval
It is being told that these recruitments have already been approved at the government level and the concerned departments had also completed the preliminary preparations. Apart from the recruitment of 700 constables in the police department, it is also proposed to recruit 800 home guard soldiers. The work of finalizing the recruitment rules and process at the departmental level is said to be almost complete.
New dates may be released as soon as the elections are over
After the process of Panchayat elections in the state is over and the code of conduct is lifted, a new notification regarding recruitment can be issued. After this, the dates of application process, physical efficiency test and written examination will be announced. It is believed that the government may expedite starting the recruitment process as soon as the elections are over to provide immediate relief to the youth.
Argument of not influencing the election environment
The State Election Commission believes that the start of new government recruitments during the elections may affect the voters and the election environment. For this reason, the Commission has given clear instructions to all the departments that only extremely important matters should be sent for approval during the election period. Considering police and home guard recruitment as a normal administrative process, the commission has decided to start it after the elections.
