The central government has approved a 2 percent increase in dearness allowance and inflation relief for its employees and pensioners. This increase will be considered applicable from 1 January 2025. This decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on 28 March 2025. This decision will benefit more than one crore government employees and pensioners. Now employees and pensioners are waiting to get their DA and DR.
When will you get DA and Arrear
For information, let us know that government employees will get an increased DA from the salary of April 2025. Along with this, they will also get the arrears of January February March 2025. This means that along with salary you will also get 3 months arrears. This will also increase the monthly income of the employee.
How much salary will come in April
If you tell you as an example, then the minimum basic salary is 18 thousand rupees, then every month your salary must have increased by 360 rupees. Due to which an arrear of a total of 1080 rupees will also be available. Now, if you talk about pension, the basic pension will increase by Rs. 180 every month, from which you will get an arrear of a total of 540 rupees. This decision of the government will benefit about 48.6 lakh central employees and 66.5 lakh pensioners. Its annual financial burden on the government will be Rs 6,614.04 crore.
Next DA hike and 8th pay commission
The increase in the next DA will be applicable for July-December 2025 and it is expected to be announced in October or November 2025. Apart from this, the DA will be merged into the basic salary after the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission are implemented. This will change the salary structure and the DA will start again from zero.
Now everyone’s eyes are on the 8th Pay Commission, because soon the government can also announce the names of the members of the pay committee. This committee is expected to submit its report in 15 to 18 months. On based on the recommendations of the committee, the government will also decide to increase salary and pension for central government employees and retired people.
