UP Teacher Recruitment 2026: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the recruitment of 20 thousand new teachers and instructors in UP. The honorarium of instructors has been increased to Rs 17 thousand. Besides, health insurance facility up to Rs 5 lakh will also be provided.
Yogi government has taken a big step towards strengthening the basic education system in Uttar Pradesh. Giving relief and hopeful news to lakhs of students, teachers and instructors of the state, Chief Minister Yogi has announced to take forward the appointment process of 20 thousand new teachers and instructors.
In the felicitation ceremony of 24,717 part-time instructors organized at the Lok Bhavan Auditorium in the capital Lucknow, the Chief Minister said that the aim of the state government is not just to increase the number of schools, but to bring real improvement in the quality of education. In this direction, facilities like recruitment of new teachers, increased honorarium and health security are being implemented.

Proposal for 10 thousand new teachers sent
The Chief Minister said that the requisition for 10 thousand new teachers has already been sent to the Education Service Selection Commission. Apart from this, new instructors will also be appointed in upper primary schools, so that the student-teacher ratio can be improved and children can get quality education. He said that the Education Commission has been formed with this very purpose, so that teachers can be selected in a transparent and systematic manner.

Honorarium of instructors increased to Rs 17 thousand
During the programme, the Chief Minister also launched the enhanced honorarium and health protection scheme for part-time instructors. He said that accepting the long standing demands, the government has increased the honorarium of instructors to Rs 17 thousand per month. Along with this, cashless health insurance facility of up to Rs 5 lakh will also be provided to the instructors and their families. The Chief Minister appealed to all the instructors to register soon on the portal of the Basic Education Council, so that the health card distribution process could be started.

Honorarium was not increased from 2011 to 2022
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the appointment of part-time instructors started under the Right to Education Act in the year 2011-12. At that time he was getting an honorarium of Rs 7 thousand per month. He said that there was no increase in honorarium till 2022. Later the government first increased it by Rs 2 thousand and now it has been increased to Rs 17 thousand.
Picture changed in basic schools
The Chief Minister said that when his government was formed in 2017, the condition of Basic Education Council schools was very bad. Even basic facilities were not available in many schools. But today, through campaigns like ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ and ‘Operation Kayakalp’, basic facilities have been provided in 96 percent of the basic schools of the state. He said that earlier the dropout rate was 17 to 18 percent, now it has come down to about 3 percent. The government aims to bring it completely to zero.

Emphasis on making children self-reliant
In his address, the Chief Minister also laid emphasis on the personality development of children. He said that every child has some hidden talent and it is the responsibility of the teachers to identify it and give it the right direction. He said that instead of making children excessively weak or ‘touchy-feely’, it is important to make them strong, disciplined and self-reliant. Sports, cleanliness, punctuality and values are also important parts of education.
Focus on education of poor children and daughters
The Chief Minister said that 18 Atal Residential Schools have been established for workers and destitute children, where thousands of children are receiving education with modern facilities. Apart from this, Chief Minister Composite Schools are being developed in every district, where facilities for education, sports and skill development will be available from pre-primary to 12th. He said that Kasturba Gandhi Girls Schools are also being continuously strengthened, so that daughters of poor families can get better education.
“No child should be deprived of education”
The Chief Minister said that if a child is deprived of education, it affects not just a family but the entire society and nation. He said that to build a developed India and a self-reliant India, it is very important to connect every child with education. The changes taking place in the education sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi are laying the strong foundation of the coming India.
