Good news for central employees, discussion about 3% increase in DA intensifies – News Himachali News Himachali

There may be relief news for central employees and pensioners in the coming months. There is a possibility of increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) before the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission are implemented.

It is estimated that the DA, which will be implemented from July 2026, may increase by about 3 percent.

This estimate is being made on the basis of All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI-IW) data released by the Labor Bureau. However, the final decision will be taken by the Central Government only after the inflation data and Cabinet approval.

How much DA is being received at present?

In January 2026, dearness allowance of central employees was increased by 2 percent. After this, at present the employees are getting 60 percent DA. Now the employees are keeping an eye on the next amendment to be implemented from July 2026. If there is an increase of 3 percent as per the estimate, then DA can increase to 63 percent.

Inference from AICPI-IW data?

The government uses AICPI-IW index data to calculate dearness allowance. Based on the data till April 2026, the DA score is expected to reach around 62.51 percent. By rounding off this score, it can be considered as 63 percent, due to which the employees can get the benefit of additional DA of about 3 percent.

When will the final decision be taken?

There has been no official announcement regarding DA increase yet. The situation will become clearer after the inflation data for May and June 2026 comes. After this the Central Government will take the final decision on this. If the government approves, then this increase for the employees can be considered effective from July 2026.

Benefit of arrears?

Even if DA hike is announced in September or October 2026, its benefits can be given from July 1, 2026. In such a situation, there will be a possibility of employees getting arrears for the months from July till the announcement.
