Impact of India-Pakistan tension
According to the report, India’s defense expenditure increased in May 2025 due to tensions between India and Pakistan and military action (in which fighter aircraft, drones and missiles were used). At the same time, Pakistan also increased its defense budget by 11% to 11.9 billion dollars. The reason for this has been said to be purchasing new weapons from China and payment for old deals.

Globally, military spending will increase by approximately 3% in 2025. Now 2.5% of the world’s total GDP is being spent on defence, which is the highest since 2009.
Boom in Europe and Asia
According to the report, defense spending in Europe increased by 14%, while in Asia and Oceania it increased by 8.1%. Ukraine war and military preparedness of NATO countries are the major reasons for this.
Condition of America and China
America’s defense spending will decline by 7.5% to $954 billion in 2025, because new aid for Ukraine was not approved. The report shows that due to war, tension and instability around the world, countries are continuously increasing their military strength, due to which defense expenditure is continuously increasing.
