Shubman Gill has again become the number 1 ODI batsman in the ICC rankings. In T20, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has jumped 230 places to 48th, while Tilak Verma has moved up to sixth.
Dubai: After the end of the three-match T20 series against Zimbabwe, ICC has released new rankings for ODI and T20. In this ranking, India’s ODI captain Shubman Gill has once again reached the top in the list of ODI batsmen. Gill played innings of 80, 31 and 77 runs in the ODI series against England. Even though Team India lost the series, captain Gill has overtaken New Zealand batsman Daryl Mitchell to take the number 1 crown.
Daryl Mitchell did not play in the last ODI match against West Indies, which directly benefited Shubman Gill and he came on top in the ODI batting rankings. ICC has said in its statement that this is the third time that Gill has become number 1 in the ODI rankings.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi jumped 230 places
15 year old young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who could not do anything special in the T20 series against England, made a strong comeback against Zimbabwe. He played a stormy innings of 50 runs in the first T20 and 81 runs in the third T20 against Zimbabwe. Due to this brilliant performance, Vaibhav made a huge jump of 230 places in the ranking and now he has come at number 48. Vaibhav, who scored 151 runs in the three-match series against Zimbabwe, was also named ‘Player of the Series’.
At the same time, India’s T20 team vice-captain Tilak Verma has climbed two places to sixth position. Captain Shreyas Iyer has also jumped seven places and is now at 24th position. Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani, who bowled well against India, has moved up 10 places to 26th position in the bowlers’ rankings.
Suryakumar Yadav remains in top-20
Former Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav, who was out of the last three T20 series, still maintains his place in the top-20. Surya is currently ranked 19th in the rankings for T20 batsmen. Talking about T20 bowling, only one Indian bowler is included in the top-10. Varun Chakravarthy, who was out of the Zimbabwe series, has slipped three places to 9th position. At the same time, Hardik Pandya is at fifth position in the ranking of T20 all-rounders.
