Gauahar Khan has strongly lashed out at Nikhil Chinapa over his recent remark suggesting she was going through menopause or perimenopause, while responding to her comments about his gameplay on Alliance. called his statement “ignorant” and “disgusting”, adding that he showed a lack of understanding about women’s health, urging him to be more sensitive and said he owed an apology to the women in his life.
Gauahar Khan slams Nikhil Chinapa
Gauahar shared a series of videos on Instagram, expressing disappointment over Nikhil’s response. The actress revealed that it was upsetting to see how “men prove time and again how ignorant they are.” Addressing Nikhil’s comment, she said, “I feel so sad for them that they don’t even know the basics of how sensitive this issue called menopause and perimenopause is and what women go through. And for someone like Nikhil Chinapa to mention that as a comeback to my viewpoints of him as a player… it’s shocking.”
The actor went on to explain that her opinion was limited to Nikhil’s performance in the game and that it had nothing to do with his personal life. Gauhar also said that she had always respected him and spoken highly of him to her husband, who is also a contestant on Alliance.
She shared, “I’m so glad that Zaid went inside and told Nikhil that I was fond of him. I still am. I think he’s a great guy. I think he has a great personality and an amazing body of work. I have utter respect for him. But what do you mean by saying Mini can comment because she deals with menopause and perimenopause?”
Gauahar shared another video, criticising his tendency to dismiss a woman’s opinion by linking it to hormones or age. “You’re assuming that I’m at an age where I must be going through menopause or perimenopause, and that’s why I have those viewpoints. That is ridiculous,” she added.
She reminded him that she welcomed her first child just nine months ago, saying, “For your information, I had a baby nine months ago, so clearly I’m not going through menopause or perimenopause. Get your facts right and please be sensitive to women when you’re putting them in a category like that. Disgusting.”
The actress also addressed women who are experiencing menopause and perimenopause, stating that they should never be made to feel that their opinions are invalid only because of a natural stage of life. Gauahar also said that Nikhil owed an apology “to your wife and the women in your life” for failing to recognise how sensitive the subject is.
What Nikhil Chinapa said?
The controversy started after Nikhil, when talking to Telly Masala, spoke about Gauahar’s social media posts supporting her husband Zaid Darbar during Alliance. For the unversed, Gauahar had earlier claimed that Nikhil’s co-contestant Mini Mathur was biased towards Kushal Tandon. She added that and Mini were playing the game together rather than giving other contestants a fair chance.
Responding to the question, Nikhil revealed that he did not know Gauahar personally but he had heard from Zaid that she thought highly of him. He remarked, “Maybe Mini will know more about this because she deals a lot with menopause and perimenopause. So maybe she may have some insights on why Gauahar said whatever she said.”
