Went: 26 year old businessman Indrajit Kumar, popularly known as ‘Goldman’ in Bihar, has stopped buying gold for the time being. Indrajit, who was carrying a kilo of gold on his body, has taken this decision after an appeal from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi had asked people to avoid buying expensive gold from abroad. Indrajit, a resident of Gaya, says that the Prime Minister’s appeal is always in the national interest, hence he cannot ignore it. He has even said that if the country needs it, he is ready to donate his gold collection worth Rs 12 crore.
Indrajit Kumar, a resident of Murarpur Kali Sthan Golbagicha in Gaya city, always wears about one kilogram of gold on his body. The thick gold chain around his neck, heavy bangles in his hands, big rings on all ten fingers and a gold watch attract everyone’s attention. Indrajit says that he got inspiration to wear heavy gold jewelery from famous singer Bappi Lahiri. Indrajit, who does business of old motorcycles, cars and smartphones, invests a major part of his earnings in gold. His father Daljit Kumar says that Indrajit pays taxes and GST regularly.
For the last several years, Indrajeet had been buying gold worth Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh every month. But after PM’s appeal, he did not buy any gold in the month of May. His last purchase was in April. He has also postponed some of his big plans for the time being, which included making a special 1.5 kg gold shirt and getting gold parts made for his Bullet motorcycle. This hobby of gold jewelery started in 2018, which has now become his identity. Indrajit aims to accumulate 7 to 8 kg of gold by 2030 and become the biggest ‘Goldman’ of the country.
