Gautam Gambhir: Former Indian team batsman Gautam Gambhir has been made the head coach of Team India after the T20 World Cup 2024. Currently, in the ongoing Test series against New Zealand, India had to face defeat in the series. After which it is being said that Gautam Gambhir can be removed from the post of head coach.
Average performance of Team India during Gambhir’s tenure
Ever since former Team India batsman Gautam Gambhir took over as the head coach, India has lost two series. India faced a 2-0 defeat in the three-match ODI series played against Sri Lanka, after which New Zealand has defeated India in the currently playing Test series. India’s performance during Gambhir’s tenure has been very average.
Two matches of the New Zealand series have been played in which India has suffered a crushing defeat. The third match is yet to be played. BCCI had a lot of expectations from Gambhir but he does not seem to be living up to them. If the team’s performance continues to be like this then BCCI may soon make a change in the head coach.
Laxman may get the responsibility of 2026 T20WC
Former player VVS Laxman is now being discussed to replace Gambhir for the post of head coach. Let us tell you that Laxman has been chosen as the head coach in the South Africa series. After which these speculations are being made.
If Team India is unable to show its magic in the WTC and Champions Trophy, then problems will increase for Gambhir because after that the team has to play the T20 World Cup in 2026. If the team loses the Champions Trophy, then the selectors can remove Gambhir and make VV S Laxman the head coach of the team for the T20 World Cup 2026.
