Lucknow. Another big step is going to be added in the infrastructure development of Uttar Pradesh. The much-awaited Ganga Expressway is proposed to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 29. This expressway is going to bring a big change in travel, trade and industrial activities by directly connecting the western and eastern parts of the state.
Meerut to Prayagraj distance short: fast and easy travel (Meerut to Prayagraj Travel Time)
Ganga Expressway has been designed for a speed of 120 km per hour. With this, the long journey from Meerut to Prayagraj will now be completed in much less time than before. Where earlier this journey used to be completed in 10 to 12 hours, now it will be completed in 6 to 7 hours. This will greatly benefit the common passengers as well as the vehicles carrying goods.
Modern technology and strong design (Ganga Expressway Technical Features)
According to Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEDA), this expressway has been prepared in 6 lanes, which can be expanded to 8 lanes in future. Its total length is about 594 kilometers and its right-of-way has been kept 120 meters wide, which will keep the traffic safe and smooth. The project has been divided into 4 parts, so that the work can be completed on time. Special attention has been paid to modern technology and high quality.
Toll Plaza & Facilities
2 main toll plazas (Meerut and Prayagraj) and 19 ramp toll plazas have been built on the expressway. This will make entry and exit of vehicles easier and the problem of jam will be reduced. For the convenience of the passengers, 9 public convenience centers have been created, where fuel, food, toilets and rest facilities will be available. This will make long distance travel more comfortable.
Modern bridges built on Ganga and Ramganga (Bridges on Ganga & Ramganga)
Under this project, about 960 meter long bridge has been built on river Ganga and about 720 meter long bridge has been built on river Ramganga. These bridges have been built with modern technology and have been designed keeping floods and water flow in mind.
Shahjahanpur Airstrip: Increased strategic importance (Expressway Airstrip Feature)
A special feature of Ganga Expressway is the about 3.5 kilometer long airstrip built near Shahjahanpur. Emergency landing has been successfully tested here by the Indian Air Force. This facility will prove to be very useful in times of emergency or military needs, which also increases the strategic importance of the expressway.
Economy, industry and agriculture will benefit (Economic Impact of Ganga Expressway)
The opening of the Ganga Expressway will create direct and fast connectivity between the industrial areas of Western Uttar Pradesh and the agricultural areas of Eastern UP.
- It will be easier for farmers to transport their crops to the market
- Industries will save time and cost in transportation
- Tourism will get a boost, especially at religious and historical sites.
This expressway is not just a road but a strong medium for the development of the state. This will increase investment, create new employment opportunities and Uttar Pradesh will become stronger in ‘ease of doing business’.
