From WagonR to Swift, why Maruti is betting on its old vehicles, this is the reason

Maruti Suzuki has been launching facelift versions of its popular vehicles for the customers for a long time. Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which was launched for the first time in 2008, has now been launched by the company once again in the market for the customers with a new look and new features. In the last 16 years, the company has sold 2.7 million units of this vehicle.

When everyone felt that the Maruti Suzuki Dezire was outdated and lagging behind other entry sedans like Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura. At the same time, the company surprised everyone by launching the facelift model of this sedan in the market.

The new Dzire has become the first vehicle of the company to get 5 star rating in crash test by Global NCAP. This means that along with new design and new features, the company has also taken full care of the safety of the customers. Let us know why the company is betting on old models instead of launching new models?

This is the reason

According to the report of ET (Economic Times), car manufacturing companies adopt the strategy of launching facelift models of the best-selling models. Due to this, the car again creates buzz in the market and everyone’s eyes are fixed on the car coming with new look and new features.

One reason behind doing this is that the company has to spend more money on development cost for a new product. But by launching the old model with new look and new features, the company’s cost also reduces.

The facelift of this car came before Dzire.

Before Dezire, the company had launched the 4th generation model of Swift in the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki has some models which have a strong hold in the market, 10,000-15,000 units of these models are sold every month, this is because there is a huge demand for these models among the customers.

Hybrid models of these vehicles can come

Puneet Gupta, Automotive Director, S&P Global Mobility, said that Maruti Suzuki is preparing to introduce cars with affordable and low-cost hybrid technology in the next two years. Smaller batteries will be used in these which will give better mileage than the existing petrol cars. This affordable hybrid technology will be used in models priced below Rs 12 lakh like Swift and WagonR.
