Three major earthquakes occurred within a few hours in Venezuela, Japan and California, causing panic in the world. Experts said that these events were not related to each other, but were separate tectonic activities.
New Delhi/Caracas: Is there some huge and terrifying change taking place within our Earth? This question is currently floating in the minds of scientists and common people all over the world. Thursday has been recorded in the pages of history as a very scary geological event. Within a matter of just a few hours, three strong and powerful earthquakes occurred in different parts of the world. This natural disaster, which occurred in three different continents namely Venezuela, Japan and the United States (California), activated the emergency response system at the global level. Suspense has deepened on the internet and social media regarding whether some invisible chain reaction of the end of the world has started?

‘Seismic Doublet’ wreaks havoc in Venezuela: Scary shadow of 1 lakh deaths!
The beginning and most gruesome form of this triangular disaster was seen on the northern coast of the South American country Venezuela. Here such a rare and deadly form of nature came to light, which scientists call ‘Seismic Doublet’ (Doublet Earthquake). This means the almost simultaneous occurrence of two super-earthquakes on the same tectonic plate boundary. Its horrifying chronology shocked everyone:
- first strike: An earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale (foreshock) shook skyscrapers.
- 39 seconds of death suspense: People had not even been able to recover when exactly 39 seconds later the second and main shock (mainshock) of 7.5 magnitude occurred.

The initial estimates of the US Geological Survey (USGS) have shaken the entire world. According to experts, the death toll due to this double blow could range from 10,000 to more than 100,000 (1 lakh). The mayor of Caracas’ Chacao district has officially confirmed the deaths. The capital’s main ‘Simon Bolivar International Airport’ has been completely reduced to debris, where the roof of the passenger terminal has collapsed. To stop the explosions, gas supply to many areas has been cut off and rescue teams are fighting a battle amid 20 aftershocks to find lives buried under the debris.
Level 6-plus violent shock in Japan: It became impossible to even stand!
Venezuela was still searching for its lives in the pile of debris when a few hours later, the north-eastern coast of Japan, located on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, suddenly trembled. An extremely powerful earthquake of 6.9 magnitude was recorded in Japan. According to USGS, its center was at a depth of 50 kilometers from the ground near Iwate Prefecture. The most dangerous quake was seen in neighboring Aomori Prefecture, where the intensity of the quake reached level 6-plus on Japan’s seven-point seismic scale. This intensity is so severe that it becomes impossible for humans to even stand straight on the ground.

The fortunate thing is that this time there was no need for tsunami warning. As a precaution, the Tohoku Shinkansen (bullet train) was stopped and expressways were closed. According to the Nuclear Regulation Authority, Onagawa and Higashidori nuclear power plants are completely safe.

Strong tremors felt in California also
During this time, an earthquake of 5.6 magnitude occurred in California, America. Its center was reported near Redwood Valley. State emergency agencies began assessing the damage, but there were no immediate reports of any major damage or deaths. Northern California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office had to immediately issue an emergency alert.

Are the links connected? Famous seismologist revealed the secret
The shaking of three continents in a single day seemed to be a sign of some major global danger. This theory started spreading rapidly on the internet that whether these earthquakes are part of some invisible chain reaction? Dr. Lucy Jones (famous Caltech seismologist) made a big statement: “The timing of the earthquakes on the same day is just a coincidence. The correlation is lost as the clock strikes. Large earthquakes thousands of kilometers apart never trigger each other.”
While talking to CNN, Dr. Jones revealed this mystery and made it clear that these three earthquakes occurred on completely different fault systems and tectonic plate boundaries, hence it is geologically impossible for them to be related to each other. In fact, Japan falls in one of the world’s most sensitive seismic zones, Venezuela is on the active Caribbean-South American plate boundary, and California sits on the dangerous San Andreas Fault System.
Increasing earthquake risk for the world
Japan, Venezuela and California are all seismically active areas. Due to its location in the Pacific Ring of Fire, Japan is among the most earthquake-affected countries in the world. Venezuela is located near the border of the Caribbean and South American plates, while California is known for the San Andreas Fault System. Although three major earthquakes in a single day definitely caught the world’s attention, scientists say that this is not a sign of any global earthquake series, but is part of the Earth’s natural geological activities.
