Actor Kartik Aaryan made his debut with Pyaar ka Punchnama in 2011 and rose to fame as the “monologue guy”. More than a decade later, he is now known as a superstar as far as the mainstream definition of stardom is concerned.
According to him, it is a result of hard work; as he has never looked back since he started working in films.
In an interview with The Indian Express, he said, “When I didn’t have work, I was only thinking how to get my first film”.
“But when I got my first film, I didn’t enjoy that moment at all,” he added.
A decade of becoming
Even though Aaryan is feeling “burnt out” because he likes to work recklessly, the 33-year-old star also admits that he knows no other way.
According to the media outlet, he shared that when he did not have work, he only thought about getting his first film. When he achieved it, he didn’t enjoy his success, instead went for another film and the second film did not work that well.
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety was less of another film in his acting career, and more like a revival and a new beginning for Kartik Aaryan. To him it felt like a re-launch, he said, “Success, failures, everything kept happening. Even till today, I haven’t gotten the chance to relax and think, I’ve come this far.”
He added, “Back then, it was all about getting my first film, then maintaining my momentum and ensuring that people know my name. They would call me the monologue guy, that was all my identity. So, I have always wanted different things at different times. I haven’t had the chance to sit and back reflect, because I am in a race with no finish line.”
No time for fun
Kartik Aaryan felt that he rushed himself and did not allow him the time and space to savour the joy of getting his first film. He said, “I don’t think I am able to give myself that personal time, because I am always thinking about work, the way forward, what have I not done, what went wrong, what is right”.
He added, “I have been in that space for the longest time. I think I need time for myself also, I am getting a bit burnt out with this – just constantly been working. But the thing is, I don’t know anything else but work. I’ve tried that, but it doesn’t work for me.
He also called himself a workaholic.
He shared a sweet memory of what he enjoyed. It was the first time someone had asked him for a selfie and recognised him.
He claimed, “I would in fact walk into a mall deliberately so that people recognise me. So, all of this is also work for me, it is no vanity at all. It is work somewhere down the line.”
