About which a claim has been made in a documentary.

Fixing in T20 World Cup 2026?

According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has started investigating allegations of corruption related to Canadian cricket. The center of investigation is the match played between Canada and New Zealand. Especially the focus is on the fifth over of New Zealand’s innings. Canadian captain Dilpreet Bajwa bowled that over. In that over, he bowled a no-ball, bowled wide on the leg side and gave away a total of 15 runs. Earlier, Canadian pacers Jaskaran Singh and Dillon Helliger had also bowled expensive overs. At the same time, spinner Saad Bin Zafar bowled the wicket maiden in the third over.

The investigation began after the broadcast of the documentary ‘Corruption, Crime and Cricket’ produced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC)’s investigative program the ‘Fifth Estate’. In the documentary, allegations have been made about internal affairs of the Canada Cricket Board, pressure in player selection and suspicious activities related to the match. The second investigation is related to an old telephone recording, in which then coach Khurram Chauhan had claimed that senior board members of Cricket Canada were pressurizing him to include certain players in the team.

Chaos in Canadian cricket

The ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit is currently investigating these allegations and is not giving any official statement. Andrew Ephgrave, interim general manager of the ICC’s anti-corruption unit, said, ‘ACU is aware of the program broadcast by CBC.’ Let us tell you, there has been administrative instability in Canadian cricket for the last one year. Issues like the appointment of former CEO Salman Khan and allegations of theft and fraud against him, delay in salary and prize money to players, as well as changes in the board are already in discussion.
