If media reports are to be believed, Kolkata management does not want to give Shreyas Iyer the first spot in the retention, due to which he does not want to be retained in the team, rather he can give his name in the IPL auction. Kolkata management wants to give the first position to Andre Russell due to which Shreyas Iyer is unhappy.
Rishabh Pant could be Kolkata’s first choice
Kolkata management’s choice is not Shreyas but Rishabh Pant. Actually, there were reports in the media that everything is not going well between Rishabh Pant and Delhi Capitals due to which he may come in the auction. If Rishabh comes in the auction then all the teams will run after him but Kolkata will also go after him because they can get a good batsman and captain in the form of Rishabh.
Let us tell you that this is not the first time that Shreyas has had to lose his captaincy because of Rishabh Pant. Before this, Shreyas was the captain of Delhi Capitals till 2020 but after that he got injured due to which he did not play in the initial part of IPL. Although he joined the team in the second half, he was not playing as captain. Because of which he went to Kolkata team in the next mega auction.
