On the day of Diwali, while Delhi’s air quality remained better during the day, it again reached dangerous levels at night. Firecrackers are believed to be the cause of poor air quality (AQI) at night. There is a ban on firecrackers in the capital and despite this it is being said that a lot of fireworks were done. AQI increased to 619 at 12 midnight in Delhi. The worst situation was recorded in RK Puram of Delhi. Here the AQI increased to the maximum of 1234 at night. There is a possibility of it increasing further during the night.
The morning of Diwali i.e. Sunday in Delhi was very relaxing. People heaved a sigh of relief due to the clear sky and bright sunshine during the day. But as soon as the firecrackers were burst at night, Delhi’s air again became poisonous. Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) was 101 at 5 pm. At 12 o’clock in the night it increased to 619. At the same time, AQI was recorded highest in RK Puram of Delhi. Due to low temperature at night, pollution levels may increase.
Delhi’s air was in very bad condition for several days. In view of air pollution, schools in the capital were closed. At the same time, entry of diesel vehicles coming from other states into Delhi was also banned. To deal with the bad situation, Delhi government had contacted Kanpur IIT and prepared a plan for artificial rain. But, even before this, the weather had cleared due to rain in Delhi-NCR on Friday and people got a big relief from bad pollution. A huge decline was also recorded in AQI in Delhi for the last two days. The weather was clear even during the day on Sunday, but due to increase in air quality again at night, the conditions have become troublesome.
