Youri Tielemans scored Latest Goal In FIFA World Cup: In the ‘Round of 32’ of the FIFA World Cup 2026, a match was played which will be counted among the most exciting matches in the history of football. Belgium made a surprising comeback after trailing by two goals till the last minutes of the game. Belgium took the match into extra time by scoring two goals in the last minutes of regulation time and then defeated Senegal 3-2 by scoring a goal in the very last second of extra time. With this miraculous victory, the Belgian team has reached the ‘Round of 16’ of the tournament.
Senegal had made a strong lead of 2-0
At one time in the match, Senegal’s team seemed completely dominant. In the 24th minute of the match, Habib Diarra scored a brilliant goal to give Senegal a 1-0 lead. Then in the 51st minute Ismaila Sar scored one of the most beautiful goals of this World Cup. He controlled a long pass from Moussa Niakhate on his chest and put the ball into the net, bypassing veteran Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. In such a situation, after trailing 2-0, the Belgian coach surprised everyone by calling star players like Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku out of the field in the 56th minute. After this, goalkeeper Courtois made three brilliant saves, which prevented Senegal from increasing the lead and kept Belgium’s hopes alive.
Romelu Lukaku and Youri Tielemans’ magical counterattack
When the match seemed to be going out of Belgium’s hands, the country’s top scorer Romelu Lukaku, who came off the bench and came on the field, scored an excellent goal in the 86th minute to make Belgium’s comeback. Just 3 minutes later, in the 89th minute, Youri Tielemans scored an equalizing goal to level the match at 2-2 and the match went into extra time.
Most late goal in World Cup history
In extra time, when both the teams were tied 2-2 and it seemed that the match would go to penalty shootout, at the same time in the last seconds the Belgian player was fouled inside the box. The referee ruled a penalty in favor of Belgium after video review (VAR). Senegalese players strongly protested against this decision of the referee. But in the 5th minute (125th minute) of injury time of extra time, Youri Tielemans converted the penalty into a goal and gave Belgium a historic 3-2 victory. This is the most late goal ever scored in the history of the FIFA World Cup. In the Round of 16, Belgium will now face either the United States (USA) or Bosnia-Herzegovina in Seattle on Monday.
