Fashion shows in the month of Ramadan in Gulmarg, Kashmir, designers apologized if criticized

Designers Shivan Bhatia and Naresh Kukreja organized an outdoor fashion show in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir. During this period, pictures are dominated on social media. But due to the organizing of this fashion show on the occasion of Ramadan, the organizers of the show are facing a lot of criticism. Now fashion designers Shivan Bhatia and Naresh Kukreja have apologized on this. The designers apologized and said that if anyone has hurt anyone from their presentation in the Pak month of Ramadan, then they express regret for this.

Delhi’s designers Shivan Bhatia and Naresh Kukreja displayed their skivier collection on March 7 on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of their brand. As photos started going viral, opposition began. Kashmir chief Maulvi Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday described the fashion show as derogatory in the social media post. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also took cognizance of Farooq’s post and said that he has ordered an inquiry into the matter. Protests were also organized in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Monday regarding this matter.

Shivan-king apologizes on social media

The designers, who organized this fashion show, said- ‘If we have been hurt by our recent presentation in Gulmarg in the Pak month of Ramzam, then we are sorry. Our sole purpose was to demonstrate creativity and skiing -related costumes without humiliating someone or hurting someone’s religious sentiments. We respect all cultures and traditions from the heart and accept expresses expressed. We honestly apologize for any unexpected inconvenience and appreciate the response received from our community.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq posted on X and described this fashion show as derogatory. He said- ‘How can it be tolerated in the valley that is known for the culture of its Sufi-saints and the deep religious perspective of the people? Those who were involved in this, their accountability should be fixed immediately. Such obscenity will not be tolerated in the name of promoting tourism.

Chief Minister reacted

Reacting to Omar Farooq’s post, the Chief Minister said- ‘The anger of the people is fully understood. The pictures I have seen shows completely neglect towards local sensitivity and that too during this Pak month. My office is in touch with local authorities and I have asked to submit the report within the next 24 hours. Further action will be taken on the basis of this report. The Chief Minister also said that the government does not have any kind of role in this event.
