In Chhattisgarh, incentive amount of Rs 8.2 crore was given to 3556 seed producing farmers through DBT. Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam advised farmers to adopt cultivation of pulses, oilseeds and millets instead of paddy.

Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam transferred the incentive amount for the financial year 2024-25 directly into the bank accounts of 3556 seed producing farmers of the state in a program organized in Nava Raipur. This amount is a total of Rs 8 crore 01 lakh 97 thousand, which was given through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) under Mandi Nidhi.

Amount directly deposited into account through DBT, farmers get benefits

Many farmers of the state joined this program through video conferencing. The minister interacted with the farmers and motivated them to produce quality seeds. Besides, a book based on one year’s achievements of Seed Corporation was also released. Agriculture Production Commissioner Mrs. Shehla Nigar was also present in the program.

Appeal to become self-reliant in seed production

Minister Ramvichar Netam said that this incentive amount has been given for the purpose of ensuring that the farmers get the right benefits of their hard work. He said that everyone will have to work together to make Chhattisgarh self-reliant in seed production.

Emphasis on pulses, oilseeds and millets instead of paddy

The minister appealed to the farmers not to depend only on paddy but also cultivate other crops like pulses, oilseeds, millets and vegetables. He said that paddy cultivation should be avoided in the summer season because it requires more water. Cultivation of pulses and oilseeds maintains soil fertility and also reduces water consumption.

Government’s credibility on quality seed production

The minister said that the image of the government is linked to the quality of the seeds. Therefore, farmers should produce good seeds with honesty and hard work. He expressed confidence that with the cooperation of farmers the state will become self-reliant in seed production.

Farmers are the priority of the government, Chhattisgarh will move forward together

Seed Corporation Chairman Shri Chandrahas Chandrakar said that under the leadership of Vishnu Dev Sai, incentives are being given to the farmers on time. He said that the government is increasing the dignity of farmers by purchasing paddy at the rate of Rs 3100 per quintal.

Dialogue with farmers, assurance of consideration of problems

During the programme, the Minister interacted with farmers of Kawardha, Ambikapur and Raipur and listened to their problems. Farmers expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Minister Ramvichar Netam and corporation officials for receiving incentive amount.
