TVK chief Thalapathy Vijay has a lot of wealth. Whose information he has given in his affidavit to the Election Commission.
With TVK emerging as the largest party in the 2026 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, all eyes are on the economic profile of its founder and chief C. Joseph Vijay. This profile was declared in a 27-page affidavit submitted to the Election Commission of India on March 30, 2026. Vijay’s declared net worth is Rs 624 crore. His movable assets are Rs 404 crore and immovable assets are Rs 220 crore. His declared income for the financial year 2024-25 was Rs 184.53 crore, which was derived from self-employed, rental income and interest income.
Savings account worth Rs 213 crore
The most shocking figure in the affidavit is the balance of Rs 213.36 crore in a savings account in the Saligramam branch of the Indian Overseas Bank, which is till March 27, 2026. It is not related to any systematic investment or market. This is a normal savings account, and it is equivalent to more than one-third of his declared net worth.
Fixed deposits: total Rs 100 crore in four banks
- Apart from the IOB savings account, Vijay has declared fixed deposits totaling Rs 100 crore in four banks:
- Axis Bank, Indira Nagar Branch: Rs 40 crore
- Indian Overseas Bank, Kodambakkam Branch: Rs 25 crore
- HDFC Bank, Besant Nagar Branch: Rs 20 crore
- State Bank of India, Shastri Nagar Branch: Rs 15 crore
Of his declared assets, including IOB savings account balances, more than Rs 313 crore are held in bank deposits—instruments that offer guaranteed returns and carry no market risk.
Equity Holdings: Rs 19.37 lakh
Their investment (exposure) in the stock market is very less. According to the affidavit archived by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), it has declared shares worth Rs 19.03 lakh in Jaya Nagar Property Private Limited, shares worth Rs 9,600 in Indian Overseas Bank and shares worth Rs 25,000 in Sun Paper Mill Limited. The total equity holding of all of them is Rs 19.37 lakh, which is less than 0.04 percent of their declared total assets (net worth). No mutual funds, bonds or debentures of any kind have been declared in this.
Vijay’s property and real estate assets
Vijay’s immovable assets worth Rs 220 crore (current market value) are spread across 4 categories:
- Housing properties in Neelankarai, Saligramam, Mylapore, Egmore and surrounding areas; The total value of ten such properties is approximately Rs 115 crore.
- There are also commercial properties in Parivakkam, Thyagaraya Nagar, Sholinganallur and Koppur. Their total value is approximately Rs 82.8 crore. The largest single commercial property among these is a 2.30-acre property located in Koppur village, which was purchased in November 2023 for Rs 35.81 crore.
- The value of non-agricultural land in Porur, Saligramam and Neelankarai is Rs 22 crore. His plot in Porur alone is spread over 33,955 square feet.
- Talking about agricultural land, two plots of 0.25 acres each in Vilpatti village of Kodaikanal were purchased in 1997 at the rate of Rs 15,000 per plot. Now their value has been declared in the affidavit as Rs 10 lakh per plot.
- Rental income from these properties has been declared as an active source of income for the financial year 2024-25.
- Vijay is also listed in the affidavit as the Managing Director of ‘Jaya Nagar Property Private Limited’. This is a formal business stake in the real estate business, separate from his personal assets.

- 2024 Toyota Lexus 350: Rs 3.01 crore
- 2015 Tata Caravan: Rs 6 crore
- 2024 BMW i7: Rs 2 crore
- 2014 Toyota Vellfire: Rs 1.63 crore
- 2020 BMW 530: Rs 80.54 lakh
- 2024 Maruti Swift: Rs 5.35 lakh
- 2025 TVS XL Super: Rs 67,400.
Jewelery is no less
Vijay has personally declared 883 grams of gold, worth Rs 1.20 crore, and silver articles worth Rs 15 lakh. His wife Sangeeta has separately declared 3,132 grams of gold, worth Rs 4.07 crore. Along with this, 2 kg silver (worth Rs 4.75 lakh) and 134.91 carat diamonds (worth Rs 1 crore) have also been declared.
Loan and advance: Rs 75.5 crore given
A list of 14 different loans and advances has been given in the affidavit, the total of which is Rs 75.5 crore. These loans are given to individuals, family members, trusts and companies. The largest amounts are as follows: A.L.P. Rs 20 crore to Antonius Brito, Rs 20 crore to Kokilambal Educational Foundation, Rs 12.60 crore to his wife Sangeeta Vijay, Rs 5.84 crore to Vidya Charitable Trust, Rs 5 crore to V. Ravichandran and Rs 5 crore to N. Rs 3 crore to Anand. Green Leap Infotech was given Rs 2.34 crore. Among the family members, Jason Sanjay was given Rs 8.78 lakh and Divya Sasha was given Rs 4.60 lakh.
Spouse’s assets: Rs 15.76 crore
Sangeeta Vijay has separately declared assets worth Rs 15.76 crore. This includes movable assets worth Rs 15.51 crore—which includes fixed deposits of Rs 10 crore and savings balance of Rs 43.41 lakh in HDFC Bank’s Besant Nagar branch—and immovable assets worth Rs 25 lakh.
Pending Income Tax Disputes
Four pending income tax demands have been disclosed in the affidavit. A fine of Rs 1.50 crore under Section 271AAB(1) for AY 2015-16, which was related to a case of alleged concealment of information related to his film ‘Puli’, was upheld by the Madras High Court in February 2026 on limitation grounds. Besides, he was also given permission to appeal in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal.
Other outstanding demands include Rs 91.36 lakh for AY 2011-12, Rs 88.97 lakh for AY 2015-16, and Rs 14.13 lakh for AY 2022-23. Of these, the last demand (worth Rs 14.13 lakh) is still under appeal. The demands emerged following an income tax search conducted in 2015, following which Vijay filed amended returns and paid taxes; But these fines remained in place during subsequent legal proceedings.
