Namo Bharat (RRTS) network is being developed for rapid transit in Delhi-NCR. A total of 8 corridors are planned, the center of which will be Sarai Kale Khan. At present, work is going on on 3 routes including Delhi-Meerut, which will reduce the travel time.
Big steps are being taken towards providing fast, modern and better public transport in Delhi-NCR. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is rapidly working on a plan to connect the entire region with the high-speed Namo Bharat (RRTS) network. Under this ambitious project, a total of eight corridors will be developed in future, the main center of which will be Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan station.
Construction continues on three major routes
At present, three important corridors are being developed in the first phase. At the forefront of these is the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut route, on which operation of Namo Bharat train has also started in many parts. This corridor will significantly reduce the travel time between the capital and western Uttar Pradesh. The possibility of extending it to Haridwar and Rishikesh in future is also being considered.
The second important project is the corridor from Delhi to Alwar via Gurugram. This route will directly connect the industrial areas of Haryana and Rajasthan to the capital. The plan also includes an underground station near the Airport Aerocity, which will provide great convenience to air passengers.
The third corridor is proposed from Delhi to Sonipat and Panipat. Major stations like Kashmere Gate and Indraprastha on this route will be developed as multi-modal transport hubs to allow easy movement between metro, bus and rapid rail.
There will be direct connectivity to Jewar Airport
NCRTC is also preparing a new Namo Bharat corridor to connect Ghaziabad to Noida International Airport (Jewar) via Greater Noida. After its launch, passengers coming from Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut will get the option of fast and convenient travel to the airport.
Five new routes proposed for the future
There are preparations to make the Namo Bharat network bigger in the coming years. Under this, new corridors have been proposed connecting Delhi with areas like Faridabad-Palwal, Shahdara-Baraut, Bahadurgarh-Rohtak, Ghaziabad-Khurja and Ghaziabad-Hapur.
NCR’s transportation system will change
Experts believe that after the completion of all the proposed corridors, road traffic pressure in Delhi-NCR will be reduced, travel time will be reduced and millions of people will get access to fast, safe and modern public transport. Sarai Kale Khan is being made the biggest interchange hub of this entire network, from where passengers will be able to travel easily in different directions.
