Epic Day 2 Box Office: Huge Drop After Modest Opening

Anand Deverakonda’s Epic – First Semester hit theatres on September 11 amid considerable anticipation. The film received an A certificate from the censor board and was promoted extensively ahead of its release.

The makers also received promotional support from Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, while Vaishnavi Chaitanya plays the female lead opposite Anand.

Despite the buzz, Epic opened on a modest note at the box office.

On Day 2, the film collected around Rs 1.30 crore net in India from 1,331 shows, marking a 38.1% drop from its Day 1 net collection of Rs 2.10 crore.

With this, the film’s total India net collection stands at Rs 3.40 crore, while the India gross has reached around Rs 3.95 crore.

Overseas, Epic collected around Rs 0.65 crore on Day 2, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 1.65 crore.

The film’s worldwide gross collection now stands at approximately Rs 5.60 crore.

Interestingly, Epic – First Semester is a spin-off of the popular web series 90s – A Middle Class Biopic.

Aditya Haasan, who directed the web series, makes his feature-film directorial debut with Epic. The film also features Sivaji and Vasuki, reprising their roles from the series and appearing as Anand Deverakonda’s parents.

With collections dropping on the second day, the film’s performance over the rest of the weekend will be crucial.
