Employees Provident Fund Organization
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has extended the suspension of its online member and employer services by one more day, delaying the resumption of essential facilities like online claim submission and passbook download. As per the notice given on the EPFO portal, the services will no longer be available till 11:59 pm on July 1 and are expected to resume at 12:00 am on July 2, 2026.
This deadline has been extended because EPFO is carrying out the already scheduled database consolidation and software upgrade work for its claim processing system. The purpose of this migration process, which started on June 26, is to improve processing efficiency, improve service delivery and strengthen the reliability and security of the retirement fund body’s digital platform. Until this process is completed, members and employers will not be able to access online services through the ‘Member Interface’ and ‘Employer Interface’.

Outage extended twice
EPFO had initially planned to stop online services till June 28 and restart them on June 29. The maintenance period was later extended till June 30 and services were expected to resume from July 1. In the latest notice, the resumption of services has been delayed by another day and they are now expected to be available from July 2.
The maintenance work is one of the longest-running planned outages announced by the retirement fund body in recent years. This has affected millions of EPFO subscribers, employers and institutions who depend on this online platform for provident fund related services.
According to the notice, EPFO is undertaking database consolidation and upgrade of software applications for its claims processing system to “improve service delivery, increase processing efficiency and provide better user experience.”
Which services are affected?
During the maintenance period, Members and Employers cannot log in to the ‘Member Interface’ and ‘Employer Interface’. Not all online services available through these platforms are available.
A number of services have been affected by this outage, including:
- Online Claim Submission
- passbook download
- Tracking Claim Status
- transfer request
- Updating profile and personal information
- Other digital services available through Member Portal and UMANG App
- Employers are also not able to use the ‘Employer Interface’ to perform regular compliance and administrative work.
Why is EPFO upgrading its system?
EPFO said that the purpose of this process is to modernize its technology infrastructure. This includes bringing together the database and upgrading the software applications that support the claims processing system.
The organization said that this upgrade is expected to improve service delivery, increase processing capacity and provide better experience to the user. Once the migration is complete, the upgraded platform is expected to provide faster, more reliable and more secure online services.
The organization said in a notice issued on its portal that EPFO regrets this temporary inconvenience and appreciates your patience as we implement this necessary upgrade to provide faster, more reliable and more secure service.
Subscribers who had postponed filing provident fund claims, downloading passbooks or using other online services due to maintenance work, will be able to do these tasks again after the launch of the upgraded platform. As per the latest schedule of EPFO, online service is expected to resume from 00:00 hrs on July 2, 2026.
