Delhi Capitals sign Rehan Ahmed: Delhi Capitals has seen a big change in IPL 2026. The replacement of England’s opening batsman Ben Duckett has been announced. Due to which Delhi Capitals have included England’s young leg spinner Rehan Ahmed in the team in his place. Rehan has been signed for Rs 75 lakh. Let us tell you, Ben Duckett was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 2 crore in the IPL auction held in December last year. This was his first time in IPL. But he had decided not to play IPL to focus more on his international career and improve his Test form. Due to his withdrawal at the last moment, BCCI has also banned him from IPL for two years.
Entry of Pakistani origin player in IPL
21-year-old Rehan Ahmed is a right-arm leg spinner and has played five Tests, 9 ODIs and 13 T20 International matches for the England national team. He has taken 49 international wickets so far. He is known as a bowling all-rounder and has useful batting skills along with his leg-break bowling. The special thing is that Rehan Ahmed also has a special connection with Pakistan.
Actually, Rehan was born in Nottingham, England, but his family is of Pakistani origin. His father Naeem Ahmed was born in Pakistan. Naim himself has been a cricketer. But in search of a better life, he moved to England in 2001 and started working as a taxi driver. Today his entire family has settled in England.
Made debut at a young age
Rehan made his international debut for England in 2022 at the age of just 18 and is one of England’s youngest debutants in Test cricket. He played his debut match against Pakistan.
