India Women vs England Women: The Indian women’s cricket team has started the T20 series against England with a bang. They defeated England by 38 runs in the first T20. With this, the Indian team playing under the captaincy of Smriti Mandhana has gone 1-0 ahead in the 3 T20 series. The most important contribution in India’s victory over England was from Jemimah Rodrigues and Yastika Bhatia, who broke the 7-year-old record. Apart from them, ball Nandini Sharma created a stir, who made her international debut in this match.
Highest score in powerplay after initial setbacks
In the first T20 match played in Chelmsford, England won the toss and put India to bat first. India’s start was not good. Both its openers – Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma – were out in the very first over. Smriti could not open the account and Shefali could score only 2 runs. But after that, Yastika Bhatia and Jemimah Rodrigues together created such a scene that India made its biggest score against England in the powerplay. India scored 73 runs for 2 wickets in the powerplay i.e. first 6 overs.
Jemima-Yastika handled the innings, broke the record
After handling India’s shaky start in the powerplay, Yastika Bhatia and Jemimah Rodrigues continued their game in the same style. The result was that both of them together broke the record of Indian partnership for the third wicket in Women’s T20I.
The Indian record for the highest partnership for the third wicket in Women’s T20I was earlier in the name of Veda Krishnamurthy and Jemimah Rodrigues. Both of them had added 117 runs against West Indies on 20 November 2019. But, after 7 years, Yastika Bhatia and Jemimah Rodrigues have now broken that Indian record by making a partnership of 126 runs. The big thing is that Jemimah Rodrigues’ name is in both the partnerships.

Nandini dominated in the debut match, was the most successful bowler
Amy Jones, who came to bat first down, scored the highest score for England with 67 runs in 48 balls. But apart from him, no other batsman could cross the threshold of 25 runs. Wicketkeeper batsman Amy Jones was dismissed by debutant Indian pacer Nandini Sharma. Apart from this big wicket, Nandini Sharma also dismissed two lower order players – Danny Gibson and Isi Wong.
