The Bihar government has achieved another major achievement towards rural development. Under the Chief Minister’s Gramin Path Maintenance (Dermati) program, the maintenance work of 6043 km of roads has been completed in the year 2024-25. An amount of Rs 3059 crore was spent on this work, while a total of Rs 3294 crore was sanctioned to the department.
This program is now being conducted under the Bihar Rural Path Maintains Policy 2018. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that even after road construction, their care is taken regularly so that there is no reduction in quality and connectivity of villages remains. This policy is playing an important role in strengthening the rural infrastructure of the state.
According to official data, investment is increasing every year under this scheme. While only Rs 106 crore was spent in the year 2006-07, it increased to Rs 3059 crore in 2024-25. This reflects the state government’s commitment to rural roads.
With the implementation of this scheme, there has been a clear improvement in the condition of roads in rural areas. Due to better roads, farmers are getting more facilities to market, students and villagers reach health services than ever.
The Chief Minister’s Rural Path Mains program is becoming a strong basis for the development of rural Bihar today. It is not only improving the contact routes, but also contributing to the overall development of the state by connecting the villages to the mainstream.
