New Delhi [भारत]July 7 (ANI): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted search operations at five locations in and around Kolkata in West Bengal. The action has been taken as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities and suspicious routing of funds through bank accounts linked to Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Officials associated with this operation said that this search is being conducted under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The agency is investigating dishonest financial transactions involving huge sums of money. It is alleged that this amount was sent through several institutions for dubious purposes.

Investigators suspect that the funds may have been diverted through complex financial arrangements, leading the agency to intensify its investigation.

The premises being searched include those of Carewell Aviation, its directors and an alleged election trust. This trust is believed to have handled or facilitated some of the financial transactions that came under the scanner.
