A case of Ebola has come to light in the South Indian state of Kerala. Here, symptoms of dangerous virus have been found in a woman who came from South Sudan. According to reports, the woman has been admitted to the isolation ward of Kottayam Medical College, Kerala. It is being told that the infected woman had reached a private hospital for treatment due to fever. Given his recent travel history from the African country, the hospital informed the state health department. After this he was sent to Kottayam Medical College for further investigation and testing.
Kerala Health Minister K. Muraleedharan has said that initial investigation of a woman who came from Sudan has revealed that there is nothing to worry about. However, we will have to wait for the test report. He said that the authorities have started monitoring this matter and urged the public not to panic.
Symptoms seen due to fever
A health official said that a woman who recently returned from South Sudan developed a fever that also showed symptoms of Ebola. First he was admitted to the isolation ward of Kasturba Medical College, Kottayam. Officials decided to test for Ebola. The hospital immediately informed the state health department and handed over the woman, now she has been sent to Kottayam Medical College for testing.
Blood sample sent for testing
Officials said that her blood sample has been sent to a test lab to find out whether the woman has Ebola virus or not, and it is expected that the result will be known to everyone after a day. As a precaution, health officials have prepared a contact list and initiated surveillance protocols. The woman is currently under observation in a separate special ward of the medical college.
The state health department has increased vigilance in view of the symptoms of the dangerous virus. The state government had already issued an alert for the hospitals here. In this, instructions have been given to pay special attention to passengers coming from African countries.
