Investment proposals worth Rs 5000 crore were received in the Milk Golden Mahotsav 2026 held in Lucknow. A big roadmap was presented to strengthen the dairy sector, increase the income of farmers and create employment.
Lucknow. The ‘Milk Golden Mahotsav-2026’, organized on the completion of 50 years of the Dairy Development Department in Lucknow, was not only a celebration of achievements, but also brought forward the vision of the Yogi Adityanath government, in which the aim is to make the dairy sector a strong foundation of the rural economy.
Thousands of cattle farmers, entrepreneurs and investors participated in this two-day long event. During this, investment proposals worth about Rs 5,000 crore were agreed upon. Besides, a roadmap to increase the income of farmers, promote modern technology and create a strong system ‘from cow to customer’ was also presented.
Participation of more than 10 thousand cattle farmers, lakhs connected through digital medium
About 10 thousand cattle rearers, milk producers and investors from across the state participated in the festival. Apart from this, lakhs of people from India and abroad were also connected through webcasting and YouTube Live. During this, experts shared important information related to government schemes, new technologies, cow rearing of indigenous breeds and strengthening the rural economy.
Funds to 139 beneficiaries through DBT, honor to excellent cattle herders
Livestock, Dairy Development and Political Pension Minister Dharampal Singh honored the cattle rearers and entrepreneurs who have done better work under various schemes in the program. Also, under Nand Baba Award for the year 2024-25, funds were given to 139 selected beneficiaries through DBT.
On this occasion, private companies set up their stalls and showcased milk products and modern technologies. Along with this, a book based on the success stories of the people benefited from Nand Baba Milk Mission and Milk Policy-2022 was also released.
UP becomes the leading state in milk production in the country
In the program, Additional Chief Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meshram said that animal husbandry of indigenous breeds strengthens the rural economy. He said that the standard of living of cattle herders has improved due to departmental schemes. Milk Commissioner Dhanalakshmi K. Said that Uttar Pradesh is the leader in milk production in the country. The state government is continuously working to provide markets, fair prices and sustainable income to the farmers. He said that through Nand Baba Milk Mission and Milk Policy-2022, a strong system of ‘cow to consumer’ is being created, so that high quality milk products can be produced.
MoUs worth more than Rs 25,000 crore, thousands of employment opportunities
The dairy sector of Uttar Pradesh is now becoming the backbone of the rural economy. This sector is contributing approximately Rs 1.72 lakh crore to the state economy along with providing employment on a large scale. So far the department has signed 796 MOUs worth more than Rs 25,000 crore, creating more than 60,000 employment opportunities. 72 projects worth Rs 2,000 crore started under Ground Breaking Ceremony-5.0. Apart from this, 59 new investment proposals worth Rs 3,000 crore are likely to provide 13,000 more jobs.
Under Nand Baba Milk Mission, subsidy of Rs 84 crore was given to more than 10,000 beneficiaries through DBT. At the same time, about 1.5 lakh milk producers have been connected through more than 4,000 milk societies, due to which the income of farmers has increased.
Beneficiaries and experts shared successful models and experiences
In the program, Cooperative Department and CSA University gave a presentation on the importance of indigenous breed animal husbandry. Experts and entrepreneurs from many reputed institutions of the country shared their experiences and innovations in the dairy sector.
The beneficiaries of Nand Baba Milk Mission and Milk Policy-2022 also presented their successful models.
Minister Dharampal Singh inspected the stalls of big companies like Paras, Gyan, Namaste India and Amul in the Dairy Expo, where modern products and technology were showcased. Some companies also launched new products and milk producer companies also took active participation.
