A man who brought a jeep for students to shoot Onam reels was arrested in Vadakara after police allegedly found MDMA in his possession. The incident came to light during a police inspection, turning what was meant to be a festive shoot into a drug case.
Vadakara: A 29-year-old man has been arrested in Vadakara for allegedly possessing MDMA. The unusual incident came to light when he was reportedly driving a rented jeep for a group of students who were shooting reels for Onam.
The Edachery police arrested Asif, a resident of Villiappally, near Illath Bridge on Vaikkilassery Road in Orkatteri. According to the police, 9.40 grams of MDMA was recovered from his possession.The students had reportedly rented the jeep to shoot videos as part of their Onam celebrations. Asif accompanied them as the driver while they travelled to the location for filming.

According to the police, the situation raised suspicion while the students were engaged in shooting their reels. Officers subsequently decided to inspect the jeep and those inside it. During the inspection, they allegedly found the MDMA in Asif’s possession.Following the discovery, Asif was taken into custody and arrested in connection with the alleged possession of the drug. Police are continuing their investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the possession and determine whether there are any other links to the case.

Police also clarified that the students had reportedly hired Asif only for driving purposes and had no prior connection with him.
