Ajay Devgn is set to return as Vijay Salgaonkar in ‘Drishyam 3’, with the highly anticipated sequel already generating strong expectations at the box office.
Early trade estimates suggest that the film could open at around Rs 50 crore on its first day, potentially putting it ahead of ‘Singham Again’s opening-day collection.
Advance bookings for ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ opened on September 27, five days ahead of its theatrical release.
According to Sacnilk, the film crossed the ₹17 crore mark in domestic advance sales within 72 hours of bookings opening.
Trade estimates have pegged the film’s day-one collection at ₹50 crore or more, while its latest advance-booking figures indicate strong demand ahead of its release.
‘Drishyam 3: The Conclusion’ has reportedly generated ₹44.33 crore through advance bookings across six show dates, including ₹34.10 crore excluding blocked seats.
Friday, October 2, which marks the film’s opening day, leads with ₹23.69 crore in advance sales.
The National Capital Region is currently the top-performing city, contributing ₹5.23 crore.
Maharashtra leads the state-wise advance-booking figures for Day 1 with ₹7.46 crore, accounting for around 31% of the gross, followed by Delhi at ₹5.23 crore and Gujarat at ₹1.68 crore.
The latest advance figures have already surpassed Drishyam 2’s final advance-booking tally of ₹5.09 crore.
The film’s reported numbers also put it in contention to surpass ‘Singham Again’s ₹43.50 crore net opening-day collection in India.
Story-wise, ‘Drishyam 3’ picks up after the events of ‘Drishyam 2’, but introduces a fresh mystery at the centre of Vijay Salgaonkar’s latest predicament.
Rajveer takes charge of the investigation and appears determined to unravel Vijay’s carefully constructed story.
As the case unfolds, Vijay is once again forced to stay several steps ahead of the police while trying to protect his family.
However, this time, Vijay appears to be in a more vulnerable position, with danger closing in from multiple directions.
Tabu reprises her role as IGP Meera Deshmukh, whose pursuit of Vijay and his family remains driven by her quest for revenge. Her return adds another layer of tension to the investigation.
Meanwhile, Prakash Raj’s character warns that Vijay should not be underestimated, hinting that the confrontation between Vijay and the investigating officers could be more complicated than it initially appears.
The Hindi ‘Drishyam’ franchise, adapted from Mohanlal’s Malayalam films, began with Ajay Devgn’s ‘Drishyam’ in 2015, followed by ‘Drishyam 2’ in 2022.
