‘Don’t panic at all…’, there will be no shortage of any goods in the country, Rajnath Singh gave great assurance

Rajnath Singh

The impact of the ever deepening geopolitical crisis in West Asia is now clearly visible on the global economy. Meanwhile, there is a big relief news for the countrymen. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has made it clear that despite the difficult global situation, there will be no shortage of any essential goods in India. He has appealed to the public not to fall prey to any kind of panic in the market. In fact, an important meeting of the Empowered Group of Ministers (IGoM) was held to review the impact on crude oil prices and supply chain due to tensions in West Asia, immediately after which the Defense Minister has given this assurance to the country.

Government’s full focus on maintaining supply chain

Defense Minister clarified the situation on social media platform X after the fifth meeting of IGOM. The main agenda of this meeting was to assess the risk looming on the availability of essential commodities in the domestic market along with energy supply due to global conflict. Rajnath Singh has assured that the government is working with full diligence under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Many concrete steps are being taken to prevent any kind of disruption or shortage in the supply chain. In such a situation, there is no need for the common man to worry about everyday things.

Emphasis on saving foreign exchange reserves

This meeting and the statement of the Defense Minister are being linked to the recent appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which he had sought cooperation from the countrymen on the economic front. Before leaving on an important tour of Europe including Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Italy between May 15 and 20, the PM gave a big message to the public. He clearly said in Telangana that the countrymen should avoid purchasing unnecessary gold for at least one year. The simple economics behind this is that importing gold puts huge pressure on the country’s foreign exchange reserves. In this era of global instability, strong foreign exchange reserves are the biggest security shield for any economy.

Need for moderate use of petrol and diesel

Apart from gold, the Prime Minister has also laid special emphasis on energy conservation. India imports a large part of its needs. In such a situation, limited use of fuel has been advised. Saving oil will not only reduce the import bill but will also strengthen the economic foundation of the country. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also mentioned this appeal of PM Modi in his post and called it a big step towards achieving self-reliance.

Collective participation essential in challenging times

At present, the whole world is struggling with economic turmoil, broken wires in the supply chain and rising inflation. Maintaining India’s position strong amid these international challenges is not possible through government policies alone. For this, participation of every citizen should be ensured. Saving energy and curbing unnecessary expenses is the surest way to keep the country safe on the economic front in these difficult times.

Petroleum Ministry’s assurance

At the same time, the Petroleum Ministry has also removed all the concerns of the general public regarding the supply chain. Senior ministry official Sujata Sharma has clarified that India has sufficient stock of petrol and diesel. Along with this, the supply of domestic cooking gas (LPG) is also completely smooth and there is no situation of ‘dry out’ of pumps or gas agencies in any part of the country. The Government of India is committed to ensuring uninterrupted supply to every citizen. However, taking forward the Prime Minister’s appeal, he has also urged people to reduce fuel consumption.
