Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday gave such a message to the players, which presented the entire picture from the playground to the struggle of life in simple words. In the inaugural ceremony of the Second All India Police Badminton Cluster Competition 2025-26 organized at Babu Banarasi Das UP Badminton Academy, Lucknow, CM Yogi said that just as players do not let the shuttle cock fall on the ground in badminton, in the same way one should not let one’s dreams and spirits be broken in life. This message of the Chief Minister came as an inspiration not only for the players but for every youth who is dreaming of reaching his goal amidst struggles.

Sports teaches us to fall, get up and win.

CM Yogi said that sports is not just a medium of entertainment or competition, but it gives discipline, dedication and strength to fight in life. He said that behind every medal is hidden the spirit of hard work, continuous practice and not giving up. Addressing the players, he said that talent only gives the beginning, but it takes hard work to reach the destination. The more sweat you shed on the field, the bigger will be the victory. The Chief Minister also said that sports teaches a person about disaster management, quick decisions and maintaining patience in adverse situations. These qualities become the real key to success in life.

All India Police Badminton Competition started in Lucknow

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath formally inaugurated the Second All India Police Badminton Cluster Competition 2025-26 at Babu Banarasi Das UP Badminton Academy located in Gomtinagar. About 1400 players from across the country are participating in this five-day long competition. During the program, the Chief Minister himself encouraged the players by playing badminton. The souvenir of the competition was also released. The band of 35th Corps PAC filled the atmosphere with energy by giving a cultural presentation.

Importance of sports explained by giving example of Arjun and Balram

Referring to Indian tradition and scriptures, CM Yogi said that Arjun of Mahabharata is a symbol of concentration, discipline and dedication. Whereas Balram gives the message of strength and balance. He said that sports also strengthens these values. The Chief Minister said that the lessons learned in the playground are not found in books. The field provides mental strength, discipline and leadership abilities to the players.

Players were neglected before 2017: CM Yogi

In his address, the Chief Minister, while targeting the previous governments, said that before the year 2017, the condition of sports and players in Uttar Pradesh was very bad. The stadiums lacked basic facilities, the tracks were broken and the swimming pools remained dry. He said that talented players were forced to visit offices for jobs and opportunities. Many talents used to die in the waiting list, but now the sports culture in Uttar Pradesh is changing rapidly.

Path to jobs and promotion opened for players

CM Yogi said that the state government has implemented two percent horizontal reservation in jobs for sportspersons. Apart from this, players who win medals at national and international level are being given direct appointments and promotions. He said that till now 534 players have been appointed in UP Police and other departments through direct recruitment. And 546 new recruitments are under process. Citing the examples of hockey players Lalit Upadhyay, Rajkumar Pal and Asian Games medalist Parul Chaudhary, the Chief Minister said that these players have become inspiration for the youth today.

Sports ecosystem being prepared from village to district level

Chief Minister Yogi said that the government is developing sports grounds in every gram panchayat and mini stadiums at the block level. Modern sports facilities are being created in every district so that the talents of villages and small towns can also get a bigger platform. He said that a new sports ecosystem has developed in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. ‘Khelo India’, ‘Fit India Movement’ and rural sports competitions have given an opportunity to millions of youth to move forward.

This competition will become an inspiration for the youth

The Chief Minister expressed hope that the All India Police Badminton Cluster Competition will give new inspiration to the players and youth across the country. He said that sports is not only a medium to win medals but is also the basis for building a strong personality and a strong nation. Director General of Police Rajiv Krishna, Additional Chief Secretary Home Sanjay Prasad, Navneet Sehgal, Avnish Awasthi and many senior officials and people associated with the sports world were present in the program.
