Sanjay Gupta, director of films like ‘Ram Shastra’, ‘Kaante’, ‘Shootout at Wadala’, ‘Jazbaa’, ‘Kaabil’, Mumbai Saga’ and ‘The Miranda Brothers’, raised questions on the decision of FWICE on social media platform X. He wrote, “When an A-list hero shoots, more than 300 workers work on the set. If you ban him, you are not stopping him, but taking away the livelihood of the workers. What does this mean?” His statement quickly went viral and a new debate started in the industry.

FWICE gave a befitting reply to Sanjay Gupta

FWICE General Secretary Ashok Dubey, while reacting to Sanjay Gupta’s criticism, reminded the old case of his film ‘Mumbai Saga’. He said, “I want to ask Sanjay Gupta ji that a few years ago, when the shooting of his film ‘Mumbai Saga’ was going on and Jackie Shroff had refused to come, the IFTDA and the Federation together solved the problem. Where was this objection then?” He further said, “We have not banned anyone. We have only said non-cooperation. This is the decision of the federation members and an internal matter of the film body.”

Ranveer Singh broke his silence on the controversy

After the controversy escalated, an official statement was also issued by Ranveer Singh. “Ranveer Singh has the utmost respect for the film fraternity and everyone associated with the ‘Don’ franchise. He has deliberately maintained silence during the recent developments related to ‘Don 3’ as he believes that professional discussions and personal relationships should be handled with dignity, understanding and mutual respect,” his team said in a statement.

According to reports, this dispute has now reached the Producers Guild of India. It is being told that many senior producers tried to bring about a reconciliation between Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment, but till now no solution has been found.
