A 45-year-old doctor was stabbed to death in Bengaluru and his 8-year-old son was seriously injured. Police have detained the doctor’s wife on suspicion of family dispute. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.
Bengaluru: A surprising news has come from Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. Here a 45 year old doctor was stabbed to death in his own flat. The deceased has been identified as Dr. Kiran Honnavar (45), anesthesiologist at Chirayu Hospital, Karnataka. His eight-year-old son is also badly injured in the knife attack and has been admitted to the ICU of the hospital. In this sensational case, the police have taken the doctor’s wife Dr. Priyanka into custody. Priyanka herself is an ophthalmologist (eye doctor) and she is being interrogated.
This entire incident took place in a high-security flat complex in Dharwad. Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner N. Sasikumar said that in the initial investigation no such evidence has been found which would suggest that any outsider had come to the flat. At the time of the incident, only Dr. Kiran, his wife Dr. Priyanka and their son were present in the flat. The initial guess of the police is that there could be a family feud behind this horrific incident.
The matter came to light when Dr. Kiran’s relatives were continuously calling him. According to relatives, whenever they called, Priyanka made excuses. Sometimes he said that he was resting, and sometimes he said that he had gone out. When Kiran could not be contacted even till evening, the relatives became suspicious. When they reached the flat straight away, they saw Dr. Kiran lying soaked in blood. His son was also found seriously injured in another room nearby.
As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and immediately took the child to the hospital. Police said that the body of the doctor and the injured child were in two different rooms of the flat. The police have started an in-depth investigation to find out what happened inside the flat. The Police Commissioner also said that the detained Dr. Priyanka is repeatedly changing her statements. Police are also collecting information from both the families to know the real reason for the murder. CCTV footage of the flat will also be examined.
Relatives of Dr. Kiran allege that Priyanka has committed the murder, but the police have not yet officially confirmed it. Sub-urban police say that only after the postmortem report comes, the real reason for the murder and when it happened will be known exactly.
