In view of the confusion regarding the date of Diwali, the Uttar Pradesh government has extended the Diwali holiday by two days. In this, the holiday of 31st is already recorded as a gazetted holiday, but the holiday of 1st November has been adjusted from the second Saturday holiday of 9th November. In this regard, Additional Chief Secretary in Uttar Pradesh Government Jitendra Kumar has issued an order under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
In his order, the Additional Secretary said that Diwali festival is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in the state, but due to some confusion, this time Diwali has fallen by two days on 31st October and 1st November. In such a situation, the holiday of second Saturday on 9th November is being adjusted with the holiday of 1st November. The Additional Secretary has clearly said in his order that there will be no holiday on 9th November i.e. second Saturday.
Confusion regarding the date of Diwali
On that day, all government offices will operate like normal days. Let us tell you that in Sanatan tradition, this five-day Diwali festival starts from Dhan Teras and continues till Bhai Dooj. However, this time some almanac sellers and scholars have entangled people in the game of planets and constellations. In this, confusion has arisen mainly regarding Diwali worship. Because of this, at some places the festival of Diwali is being celebrated on 31st October, while at many places preparations are being made to celebrate the festival on 1st November also.
Adjustment from the holiday of second Saturday, November 9
Since the Diwali holiday is usually only for one day, those celebrating Diwali on November 1 were faced with the problem of how they would make the necessary arrangements. Keeping this problem in mind, the Uttar Pradesh government has tried to provide a solution. In this, the holiday of second Saturday on 9th November has been adjusted to the holiday of 1st November.
