BJP leader Rahul Sinha alleges that Mamata Banerjee considered TMC leaders as servants. The leaders were angry with the order to honor Abhishek Banerjee after losing the election. Meanwhile, party state president Chandrima Bhattacharya has resigned and the party office has been locked.
East Burdwan (West Bengal) [भारत]July 5 (ANI): Amid reports of deep internal discord in the Trinamool Congress (TMC), increasing pressure on the party, senior BJP leader Rahul Sinha on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the party leadership. He alleged that the elected representatives had been reduced to “mere servants”.
‘Leaders were treated like servants’
Speaking to ANI in East Burdwan, Sinha said, “Mamata Banerjee treated all TMC MLAs and MPs like mere servants… After the election defeat, there was a meeting in which it was decreed that when Abhishek Banerjee comes, everyone should stand to welcome him and when he goes, they should stand again. The self-respecting leaders who had suppressed their self-respect for so long just to remain in power, asked themselves: Now What is left when the power is gone? So, they are all gone…” he told ANI. Sinha’s comments come amid reports of growing discontent within the TMC following the recent election shock, with several senior leaders openly questioning the party’s internal hierarchy and decision-making processes.
Big blow to TMC, resignation of state president
Meanwhile, on Saturday, the party suffered a major blow amid growing internal strife in the Trinamool Congress (TMC) when state party president and former minister Chandrima Bhattacharya resigned from all party posts. This resignation has come in the politics of West Bengal at a time when the owner of TMC’s state party office in Kolkata locked the premises from inside. The move followed reports that a rebel group led by Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Ritabrata Banerjee had taken over the building.
In her resignation letter addressed to Mamata Banerjee, Bhattacharya said that she is stepping down from the post of state president assigned to her in June 2026. He also withdrew himself as an authorized signatory to the party’s bank accounts and as Banerjee’s authorized person before the Election Commission of India. (ANI)
