Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh said that UCC should be a unifier of the society. He alleged corruption in the Animal Husbandry Department and appealed to the people to join the padyatra against theft of Ram Mandir donations. He also gave a statement on the SIT investigation.
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [भारत]July 16 (ANI): Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Thursday said the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) should be implemented in a way that it unites the society and not create division.
Speaking to reporters, Singh also commented on the Animal Husbandry Department controversy, his proposed padayatra, the Ram Mandir donation controversy and the ongoing SIT investigation.
Congress’s stand on UCC clear
“The Congress party’s stand on the UCC issue is very clear. They (the government) should not forget that it was made a part of the Constitution when the Congress party was in power. Therefore, the Uniform Civil Code should be used in a way that it unites the society; it should not create bitterness,” he said.
Corruption proved in animal husbandry department dispute
Commenting on the controversy surrounding the Animal Husbandry Department, the Congress leader alleged that the removal of former minister Lakhan Patel has proved that corruption has taken place. He said, “The removal of Lakhan Patel from the Animal Husbandry Department proves that there is corruption. It has been established that there is corruption.”
Padyatra and Ram temple donation controversy
On his proposed padayatra and the Ram temple donation controversy, Singh said Congress in-charge Harish Chaudhary’s comments on the march were appropriate and urged people to join the movement protesting the alleged theft of donations.
He said, “What party in-charge Harish Choudhary said regarding my padyatra is right; he did not say anything wrong. If people from all sections of the society are against theft of donations, and if their mindset is against the way these donation thieves are being saved, then they should actively participate and join the movement.”
He further said, “With regard to the Ram Mandir controversy, whatever I had to say on the matter, I have already said.”
Statement on SIT investigation
On the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigation into Champat Rai, he said the investigating agency should record the statements of all those persons who have publicly made allegations against him. He said, “With regard to Champat Rai’s post, I only want to say that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) should record the statements of all those persons who have openly given statements against him.” (ANI)
