Digital India 2.0: Now technology will directly increase employment and income, NITI Aayog has prepared a plan

Power of AI in Digital India

India’s digital story is no longer limited to just internet access. The next big bet is to directly connect technology with people’s earnings, employment and everyday life. With this in mind, NITI Aayog has launched the DPI@2047 roadmap, which explains how the country’s digital power will translate into real economic growth in the coming two decades.

Till now, India has shown the world how technology can be implemented on a large scale through Aadhaar, UPI and digital services. But the new roadmap goes one step further. The focus is clear, not just digital access, but earning from digital. That is, how can technology be directly used in increasing the income of farmers, small businesses, laborers and common citizens.

The effect will be visible in every village

While presenting this roadmap in New Delhi, Suman Bery and Ajay Kumar Sood clearly said that now the real competition is not just to create new technology, but to implement it rapidly in the entire country. That is, innovation will matter only when it shows impact everywhere, be it village or city. The entire strategy is divided into two phases. First—DPI 2.0 (20252035), where technology will be directly linked to employment and livelihood. Second—DPI 3.0 (20352047), where the goal will be widespread prosperity. At present, the entire emphasis is on the first phase, which is actually a blueprint for digital employment.

One size fits all

There is a plan to bring major changes through technology in sectors like agriculture, MSME, education and health. There is also an emphasis on making the delivery of credit, energy and government schemes faster and transparent. The special thing is that the scheme will not just be imposed from above, but will be implemented at the district level as per the need i.e. not one size fits all, but a local model. The most interesting part of this whole strategy.

This is how AI will become a real force

Entry of AI. The government is believing that in the coming times, the real strength will lie in how fast Artificial Intelligence is taken to the common people and small businesses. If this is successful, India can present a model where high-tech will not be limited to big cities only, but will reach even the villages. To put it in simple words – now the next phase of Digital India has started. The only difference is that this time the goal is not to download the app, but to increase the income and standard of living of the people. This roadmap will decide how India becomes an economic power from digital power by 2047.
