RCC Coaching Owner Arrested: In the NEET UG 2026 paper leak case, CBI has taken major action and arrested Professor Shivraj Motegaonkar, owner of RCC Coaching Institute of Latur. So far 10 accused have been arrested and raids are going on at many places.
NEET UG 2026 Paper Leak Case: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken major action in the alleged paper leak case of NEET UG 2026, the country’s biggest medical entrance examination. The investigating agency has arrested Professor Shivraj Motegaonkar, the main accused in this case and the director of a coaching institute based in Latur. Initial investigation by CBI has revealed that the accused was related to those people who are accused of leaking the question paper before the examination and distributing it to the students. After this action, serious questions have once again been raised on the transparency and security of medical entrance examinations across the country.
The accused are the owners of RCC coaching institute of Latur.
According to the investigating agency, Professor Shivraj Motegaonkar is the director of RCC Coaching Institute. This institute is known for providing preparation for NEET UG exam and it operates a total of 9 branches. Among these, the main branch is located in Latur, Maharashtra. CBI suspects that an attempt was made to send question papers to the students before the examination through this network. Alleged question paper found during search
CBI raided the institute and residence of the accused. During the search, a question paper of Chemistry was recovered in which questions were found similar to those asked in the NEET examination held on May 3, 2026. The investigating agency is now investigating how this question paper was prepared before the examination and to whom it was delivered. Forensic examination of the seized documents, laptop and mobile phone is also being conducted.
Raids at 5 places in last 24 hours
During the last 24 hours, CBI conducted search operations at five places in different cities of the country. Many incriminating documents and electronic devices have been seized during the investigation. According to sources, the agency has found such digital evidence, which can help in reaching the paper leak network and the middlemen associated with it.

The case was registered on May 12
This whole matter started when a written complaint was filed by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India regarding the alleged paper leak in the NEET UG 2026 examination. After this, the Central Bureau of Investigation registered the case on 12 May 2026 and formed special investigation teams. Simultaneous raid operations were conducted at several places across the country and several suspects were interrogated.
10 arrests so far
According to CBI, a total of 10 people have been arrested so far in this case. The arrested accused include people from Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, Latur and Ahilyanagar. Earlier, the nine accused arrested have been produced in the court and sent to police custody, where their interrogation is going on. The process of presenting the 10th accused in the court is also going on.
Questions sent to students by taking lakhs of rupees?
The investigating agencies suspect that some middlemen used to teach alleged leaked questions to students through special coaching classes. In return, lakhs of rupees were collected from the students and their parents. The CBI claims that during the investigation, people have been identified who were involved in distributing Chemistry and Biology question papers to selected students before the examination.
Question again on the credibility of NEET exam
Lakhs of students in the country appear for the NEET UG exam every year for admission to medical colleges. In such a situation, it is natural to increase concern among students and parents due to issues like paper leak. Education experts say that if the allegations are proved true in the investigation, then it not only points to the weakness of the examination system but also to the organized network. Such cases affect the confidence of hard-working students.
At present CBI is busy connecting the links of this entire network. The agency is trying to find out who was the real source of the question paper leak and how many people were involved in it. More arrests may be made in this case in the coming days. Also, the scope of investigation can be increased on many coaching institutes and suspicious persons.
