From food delivery to the startup company Swiggi, engaged in the work of Quick Commerce, has now received a tax notice. Pune Profession Tax Officer has sent a notice to Swiggi and demanded a tax of Rs 7.59 crore. These notices are an assessment order for analysis of profession tax deducted from the salary of their employees within a certain time period from Swiggy.
In fact, under the local law of Maharashtra ‘Maharashtra State Tax on Profession, Trades, Calling and Employment Act-1975’, Swiggy had deducted tax from the salary of his employees. In this, due to violation of the rules, the Profession Tax Officer has sent a tax demand notice to Swiggi. This notice has been sent for assessment of period from April 2021 to March 2022.

Swiggy works in the online food delivery sector. Most of the employees working here work on the partner basis, so they come under the purview of professionals. The company also works in the instant food delivery segment called Quick Commerce and Snack by the name of Instamart. The company says that this tax demand order will not affect its business.
