Diabetes: This protein can change the lives of diabetes patients, Indian scientists have discovered a new formula

Researchers say that children and adolescents in developing countries around the world are being affected by the diabetes epidemic.

In such a situation, effective treatment of diabetes is the need of the hour. IL-35 is a special protein of a certain series, encoded by the IL-12A and EBI-3 genes. According to research, this discovery has increased the interest of scientists in IL-35, especially in the treatment of new type-1 and autoimmune diabetes.

About the study

A network pharmacological analysis of IL-35 related genes, gene-disease compatibility and detailed experiment review was done under the leadership of Dr. Ashish Bala, Associate Professor, Institute for Advanced Study in Science and Technology, an autonomous institute under the Government of India, Guwahati, Professor Ashish K Mukherjee and Research Scholar Ratul Chakraborty. This analysis has identified five disease-interactive genes related to immune-inflammation, auto-immunity, neoplastic and endocrine disorders.

In what can IL-35 help

According to researchers, IL-35 helps in preventing type 1 and autoimmune diabetes. It regulates macrophage activation, T-cell proteins, and regulatory B cells. IL-35 inhibited pancreatic beta cells from influencing immune cells. In addition, IL-35 reduced specialized immune cells that produce inflammatory chemicals. These reduce the effects of pancreatic beta cells, which are a major contributor to type 1 diabetes and autoimmune diabetes mellitus.
