Dhar Lok Sabha seat, adjacent to Indore in Madhya Pradesh, is one of those seats which is not the stronghold of any party, rather the people here give opportunity to both the parties to work one by one. This Lok Sabha seat first came into existence in 1962, where till now no single party has been able to establish its stronghold. Situated between the Vindhyachal hills and the ghats of Narmada, this city also has historical importance. This place was ruled by Parmar kings, many forts, stepwells and ponds etc. of that time are still present. Here Raja Bhoj had also built Bhojshala for the worship of Mother Saraswati. Which still exists today and a grand puja is organized here on every Basant Panchami day.

Bhojshala is a very important place here from religious point of view. It is dedicated to Mother Saraswati, the goddess of education. This place is named Bhojshala after Parmar Raja Bhoj. It is said that the rulers of Malwa region had made Dhar the capital. Since that time, this city has had its own reputation. Apart from this, Dhar Fort is also a place to visit which has many historical memories preserved inside it. It is made of red stone and is a blend of Afghan, Hindu and Mughal architecture. Apart from this, the palaces of Mandu are also famous in the entire country. Mandu is also known as Joy City.

Apart from these places, many tourist places of religious importance are also present here. These include Siddhivinayak Bada Ganpati Temple which is in Naugaon, Maa Gadkalika Temple, Mantanggiri Digambar Jain Temple, Bhaktambar Adinath Shwetambar Jain Tirtha, Kaal Bhairav ​​Temple, Amka Jhamka Temple of Kundanpur Amjhera. Jain devotees also come to Dhar every year to visit these world famous temples. Apart from these, Maan Dam and Chandrashekhar Azad Dam projects being built on Maan River are also worth seeing.

Talking about Dhar Lok Sabha, it has been formed by merging some parts of Indore district with Dhar district. In this, Sardarpur, Gandhwani, Kuchshi, Manawar, Dharampuri, Dhar, Badnawar of Dhar district and Mhow i.e. Dr. Ambedkar Nagar of Indore district have been included. Out of all these assemblies, BJP is in control of only three while Congress is in control of 5. If we talk about Lok Sabha elections, then in the first four elections since 1962, Bharatiya Jan Sangh and Janata Party had won. After this, Congress won the next four elections. After this, the turn of BJP and Congress continued for one or two elections each. Presently Chhattar Singh Darbar is the MP after winning the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from here.

What happened in the last elections?

If we talk about 2019 Lok Sabha elections, here BJP had given ticket to Chhattar Singh Darbar. Whereas Congress fielded Girwal Dinesh as his opponent. When the election results came out, BJP candidate Chhattar Singh Darbar got 722,147 votes, while Congress’s Girwal Dinesh got 5,66,118 votes. That means Chhatar Singh defeated Girwal Dinesh by 1,56,029 votes.
