Dewas Lok Sabha seat of Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh has come into existence only after 2008. Presently Mahendra Solanki is MP from BJP on this Lok Sabha seat. Famous for the famous Tekri temple, the politics of Dewas is directly influenced by Indore. After Mohan Yadav became the CM from Ujjain, BJP’s dominance in this area has become even greater. Dewas Lok Sabha is made up of parts of four different districts. Chamunda Mata Temple of Tekri also has many beliefs, here Maa Bhavani is present in two forms. One of these is of Chamunda Mata and the other is of Tulja Bhavani. People from all over the state come here to have darshan of this Siddha Shaktipeeth. It is built on the hillock situated in Dewas which is very beautiful to see. Every Navratri, lakhs of devotees come here to have darshan of the Mother Goddess. A special fair is organized here. There is another beautiful place here which is called Meetha Talab. Apart from this, the chhatris of Panwar kings are also visible here.
Along with Hindu temples, Dewas district also holds special importance for the followers of Jainism. Pushpagiri Tirtha is located here. Parasnath Lord and Padma Prabhu Jain temples are found here. The craftsmanship of these temples is absolutely fascinating. Apart from these, Pipleshwar Mahadev and Koteshwar Mahadev temples of Sonakutch also hold a special place in the hearts of the devotees. There is also Kavadiya hill nearby where many stone rocks are cut in a special shape. All these rocks are naturally cut. It is about 1 kilometer away from Potlagaon in Dewas district.

Dewas Lok Sabha seat has been created by combining parts of four districts and comprises the legislative assemblies of eight different districts. These include Dewas, Sonkach and Hatpipaliya of Dewas district, Shajpur, Sujalpur and Kalapipal of Shajapur district, Agar of Malwa district, Ashta assembly of Sehore district. BJP is in control of all these assemblies.
BJP has considerable influence in the entire region of Malwa. Elections to this Lok Sabha were held in 2008, after which in the elections held in 2009, Sajjan Singh Verma of Congress had registered a landslide victory. However, after this, BJP’s Manohar Lal has won from this area in 2014 and BJP’s Mahendra Solanki has won from this area in 2019.
What happened in the last elections?
If we talk about the last election on this Lok Sabha seat, BJP had fielded Mahendra Solanki. Whereas Congress had given ticket to Prahlad Singh Tipania as his rival. In this election, BJP’s Mahendra Solanki got 8.62 lakh votes while Congress’s Prahlad got 4.90 lakh votes. BJP’s Mahendra Solanki had defeated Congress’s Prahlad Singh by a huge margin of 3.72 lakh votes.
