Demand for investigation of Sambhal violence by CBI, petition filed in High Court

Violence broke out during the survey of Shahi Jama Masjid on Sunday (24 November) in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. However, now the situation is under control. Four people also died in this violence. A public interest litigation has been filed in Allahabad High Court on this matter. In this petition, a demand has been made for a CBI investigation under the chairmanship of a retired Justice of the High Court. Along with this, the petition has also demanded investigation into the role of the Collector and SP as well as the concerned officers.

In this petition filed by a person named Anand Prakash Tiwari through advocates Imran Ullah and Vineet Vikram, it has also been demanded that a complete investigation should be conducted from the survey of Jama Masjid of Sambhal till now. Along with this, a demand has been made to investigate the role of Divisional Commissioner of Moradabad Zone, District Magistrate of Sambhal and Superintendent of Police and other officers in the incident by a special investigation team headed by a retired High Court judge.

The petition has alleged administrative negligence and the role of local officials in this violence. Along with this, a demand has also been made to make necessary guidelines regarding the role and responsibilities of the district officials for cooperation in the survey of religious monument or site in future. On November 24, violence broke out in Sambhal after a team led by an advocate commissioner conducted a survey of the Mughal-era Jama Masjid. This survey was conducted on the orders of a local court.

Violence broke out during the survey

Last Sunday, violence broke out during re-survey of the mosque. During this time, four people were killed and 25 others were injured in the clash between the protesters and the police. Although the situation in the city has almost become normal, traders in the markets near the mosque claim that they are facing losses after the incident. The biggest loss has been suffered by the bullion shop owners located in the bullion market located half a kilometer away from the mosque.

Police forces are deployed at all sensitive places in Sambhal. Vigilance is being maintained not only in Sambhal but in all the five districts of Moradabad division. The extent of damage caused by the violence on Sunday is also being ascertained.

31 accused arrested so far

Since the violence on Sunday, the police has been continuously arresting the accused. In the entire matter, the police have registered seven cases in this matter and till now 31 people have been arrested. In which many women are also included.
