Delhi Varanasi Bullet Train Project: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Saturday that after the commencement of the proposed Delhi-Varanasi Bullet Train Project, travel in Uttar Pradesh will become much faster and easier than before. He said that this high-speed rail corridor will pass through Jewar, due to which the journey from Jewar to Lucknow can be completed in about 1 hour 40 minutes. The journey from Delhi to Lucknow is expected to be completed in approximately 2 hours 10 minutes.

The project was announced in the Union Budget 2026-27

The Delhi-Varanasi Bullet Train Project was announced by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Budget 2026-27. Meanwhile, construction work is already underway on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor, India’s first bullet train project.

Addressing a program organized in Jewar on Saturday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that after the introduction of bullet train, the travel time in Uttar Pradesh will reduce significantly. According to reports, he said that the distance from Delhi to Lucknow will be covered in about 2 hours 10 minutes, while the journey from Jewar to Lucknow can be completed in about 1 hour 40 minutes. Demand to connect Jewar Airport with high-speed rail

Earlier in the month of April, Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh had met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. During this, he had demanded to connect the recently opened Noida International Airport with the proposed high-speed rail network, so that passengers can get better and faster connectivity.

Why is Noida International Airport special?

Commercial flight operations have started at Noida International Airport from June 15. This airport, spread over about 1300 hectares, is expected to handle about 1.2 crore (12 million) passengers every year in the first phase. This airport has now become the second largest airport in the National Capital Region (NCR) after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. After completion of all the phases, it is estimated that about 7 crore (70 million) passengers will be served from here every year.
